Book Week 2025 was a joyful celebration of stories, imagination and the power of words at our school. We were thrilled to welcome local Queensland author Kathryn Apel, who brought her passion for storytelling to life for our students.

In the morning, our Prep to Year 3 students were captivated by Kathryn’s engaging author talk, where she shared her delightful books Mad Cows and The Bird in the Herd. Her animated storytelling and warm presence sparked laughter and curiosity among our youngest readers.

Later in the day, students in Years 4 to 6 participated in hands-on poetry workshops led by Kathryn. These sessions encouraged creativity and helped students develop their poetic voice, leaving them inspired to explore language in new and exciting ways.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kathryn Apel for her generosity and inspiration. Not only did she ignite a love of reading and writing in our students, but she also gifted our school two of her out-of-print treasures: the picture book This is the Mud! and the chapter book Fencing With Fear.
