How to enrol in Prep 2027

At St Mary’s we have developed steps that build confidence in pre-prep aged children giving them a taste of school life as they transition to Prep. It will:
- Assist children in making a successful adjustment to the school and classroom environments
- Offer an opportunity to participate in classroom activities
- Create familiarity with teachers and school routines
- Allow children to practise skills necessary for school
- Encourage new friendships and develop a support system
- Provide information and support for parents
Who can participate?
All children who have an accepted enrolment for 2027 at St Mary’s Primary.
Term 1 2026 – Enrol online

Term 2 2026 - Interviews
During Term 1 & 2 our enrolments officer Katie Neilson will contact families who have completed the online enrolment to book an interview time.
Enrolments will be finalised and placements accepted.
To secure your child’s place in Prep for 2027, families who are new to the school are asked to pay an enrolment bond of $100 once an offer of enrolment has been accepted. This bond will be credited to your child’s Term 1 school fees when they commence at St Mary’s.
Please note that the enrolment bond is non‑refundable should you decide not to proceed with your child’s enrolment.
Term 3 & 4 2026 – Little Learners Sessions
During Term 3 we will host 5 Little Learners Sessions. Families are encouraged to bring their child along to at least 2 if not all these sessions.
Students who have accepted their place for 2027 will receive a Little Learner’s shirt and library bag. Each session will be run by our Support Teacher: Inclusive Education – Emma Putney and will take place from 9am-10am on 29th July,
19th Aug, 9th Sept, 14th Oct & 28th Oct.
Pre-prep students and their family will take part in a story time, borrow a book from our library, play on our playground and participate in a group circle activity. These sessions are designed to build familiarity and confidence in our 2027 prep students.
Term 4 2026 – Orientation Sessions
These two transition sessions form a vital part of the building of relationship between home and school and are a compulsory part of our Prep orientation process.
On Wednesday 11th Nov - 9am-10am – Our Prep 2027 students and their families are invited to a Maker Morning with our Prep teachers. Here the students and their families will get to know the Prep classrooms and some of our routines together.
On Wednesday 18th Nov - 9am-10:30am – Our Prep 2027 students will participate in some fun classroom activities with the teachers whilst parents and carers participate in an information session.
Topics covered at the information session:
- The parent/school relationship and the importance of strong communication.
- Uniform suppliers and uniform expectations.
- Religious education and religious life of the school.
- Tips about what you can be doing at home to prepare your child for school.
- The importance of reading with your child every day and tips for reading with your child.
- Booklists and school bags.
Time: Please arrive at 8.30am for a 9am start.
What to bring: Please bring a small backpack or bag containing a hat, water bottle and a piece of fruit or cut up vegetables for fruit break.
What to wear: Wear comfortable play clothes (Little Learners shirt) and joggers and don't forget to bring a hat.
Where to meet: Meet in the undercover area outside our Library. Parents are requested to sign-in their child. During the first session, the students will have their photo taken. Each child will be provided with a name tag which should be returned to one of the St Mary's staff members at the end of the session. Parents/caregivers will also be asked to write their own name on a sticker for identification.
